from the Oregon Coast Humane Society, take a guided tour of the Keepers House, Visit
with State Park Volunteers in the Lighthouse and learn all about natural features in area
from our Roving Rangers. Free cookies, and free treats for your K-9! The celebration will
take place at the Keepers House near the site of the WW II K9 kennels – along the scenic
walking trail that leads from the beach to the lighthouse tower.
The Coast Guard Beach Patrol was formed in 1942 in response to German sabotage

California and Fort Stevens, Oregon. From early 1943 to July 1944, Heceta Head served
as a Beach Patrol station for the Coast Guard Dogs for Defense program.
