Restoration Project
Construction will begin October 5th

I am writing today with some very exciting news! This October, the US Forest Service, the federal agency that owns the Heceta Head Lightkeeper's House, will be undertaking a significant historic preservation project: replacing the entire roof and front porch on our beloved 1894 home. Architects and engineers have deliberated for several years on the process and plans, which have finally been approved. Funding has been granted and the contractors have been hired for the job! We are thrilled the Forest Service is investing in the treasured landmark which requires so much loving care and constant upkeep. But, I also want to be completely honest with you about what that will mean for October 5-31.
Throughout October, there will be scaffolding around the exterior of the house. Construction crews will be working during daytime hours, so there will be noise and equipment. Our front porch will be unavailable for a portion of the month. We cannot be certain of the exact construction timeline, so we are letting everyone know in advance that there could be disruptions to the typical Heceta experience. If you plan to be here in late October, they may be done with the most disruptive part, or they may not. We are certain they will be working long hours to get the bulk of the roof done before the rainy season sets in. We know this will be less than ideal for vacation or travel plans.
What won't change: the cozy rooms, our beautifully prepared breakfast, the afternoon wine and cheese, the grounds and the view that attracted you in the first place. We will still be doing everything we do best: make your time here special. And, now you could witness history in the making! But I wouldn't feel right letting you arrive without knowing what to expect.
Because we understand these possible disturbances are not ideal, we are offering 25% off for anyone who wants to book Oct 5-31, 2026. Enter promo code: OCTOBER when making your reservation. For more information, contact keepers@hecetalighthouse.com or 541-547-3696.
Thank you for being the kind of guests who make this work meaningful. I'm grateful you choose to support our work at Heceta Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast.
