Heceta Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast is located halfway between Florence and Yachats on the Central Oregon Coast. We are a high end, 6 room inn occupying the historic light keepers’ home at Heceta Head Lighthouse. This well reputed unique inn is known across the globe for its dramatic scenery, rich maritime history, and amazing 7 Course Breakfast. Not only do we offer lodging, we also serve as an Interpretive Center, gift shop, and a busy event venue. Guests are welcome as friends and staff is treated like family in a positive and respectful atmosphere. Listed on the National Register of Historic places and owned by the US Forest Service it is our mission to be good stewards of this property through restoring and publicly sharing this national gem.

Heceta Lighthouse B&B is seeking a Gift Shop Sales Associate to join our experienced team for May -September. This is a hands-on position that entails stocking, cleaning, inventory, sales, and sharing of local information and history. Shifts are available for weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Typical work hours are between 930am and 630pm, with 2 different shifts. Compensation is competitive and based on experience.

Job Responsibilities:

Greet customers when they walk in the door
Build rapport through friendly conversation
Help customers find items/make recommendations based on their questions
Ring up sales, count back cash/process credit cards
Invite customers to visit the B&B website and share knowledge of the facility and its history
Sweeping, dusting and other maintenance
Restock products and notify manager when stock runs low

Job requirements:

High school diploma/GED required
Basic addition and subtraction skills
Retail sales experience/basic knowledge of POS systems
Computer literate (email is major form of information sharing)
Excellent written, verbal, and auditory communications skills with guests, staff, and management.
Professional appearance and demeanor with exceptional customer service experience.
Willingness to become knowledgeable about the store products and the lighthouse property
Willingness to follow directions and take initiative
Must possess or be able to obtain Customer Service Gold Training and CPR, First Aid, and AED training.
Must be friendly, polite, and helpful.
Must be comfortable working with different kinds of people.
Must be able to carry 40 pounds and physically fit to withstand standing for long periods; be able to navigate stairs

Other Desirable Skills and Experience

Catering, Serving, Housekeeping, Graphic Design, Non-Profit experience, Grant Writing, Gardening, Proficiency with Social Media Platforms, Maintenance or Landscaping Knowledge.
