Emergency Procedures

1. In case of POWER OUTAGE:

In your room there is a lantern in the closet/armoire. There is a flashlight on the vanity/dresser. The candles in the rooms are electric. There are also candles in the hall bathrooms. Push the button on the bottom of the candle. Please do not burn anything.

Staff will place lanterns all throughout the first floor. Extra blankets are available in the chest at the bottom of the west stairs. You may start a fire in the fireplaces using the Duraflame logs.

Staff will bring you a carafe of water for your room. Extra carafes of water will be in the guest kitchen. You have hand sanitizer in your bathroom.

Breakfast will continue as usual since we have a propane stove/oven and extra water jugs in the basement.

If you do not see any staff, use the phone by the piano to call the caretaker (541) 270-4776.

2. In case of FIRE:

If the fire alarm sounds or sprinklers engage, stay calm and make your way outside. The staff/caretaker will investigate the situation and notify you when it is safe to return.

If it is not safe to exit down the stairs, there is a fire ladder in your closet/armoire. Place it over the windowsill and crawl out the window to safety.

3. If you have POWER but NO WATER:

Notify staff or caretaker. They will provide you with a carafe of water and investigate the situation.

4. If there is an EARTHQUAKE:

Drop to the ground until the shaking stops. When it is safe, exit the building and walk to higher ground at the lighthouse tower viewing area. Be cautious of downed trees and power lines. Be prepared for aftershocks and possibly a tsunami.

Wait for staff or state park personnel to meet you and give further instruction.

 5. If there is a TSUNAMI WARNING:

Exit the building and walk to higher ground at the lighthouse tower viewing area. Wait for staff or state park personnel to meet you and give further instruction.
